Hydro Blasting / Pressure Washing

Understanding the Difference in Industrial Cleaning Power

Hydro Blasting

Pressure Washing

Pressure Washing

Also known as: Ultra-high-pressure water blasting

  • Pressure Range:  4,000 – 10,000 PSI
  • Purpose: Heavy-duty industrial cleaning
  • Applications: Removing coatings, scale, rust, hardened buildup, cleaning tanks, boilers, heat exchangers, and industrial lines
  • Equipment: Specialized pumps, rotating nozzles, automated systems
  • Advantages:
    • Cuts through thick materials and hardened buildup
    • Non-destructive to surfaces
    • Chemical-free and environmentally friendly
    • Suitable for confined or sensitive areas
    • Ideal for shutdowns, turnarounds, or pre-maintenance cleaning

Pressure Washing

Pressure Washing

Pressure Washing

Also known as: Power washing

  • Pressure Range: 1,500 – 4,000 PSI
  • Purpose: Light to medium-duty cleaning
  • Applications: Cleaning sidewalks, walls, machinery exteriors, and general maintenance
  • Equipment: Portable washers, basic spray wands
  • Advantages:
    • Great for surface-level cleaning
    • Quick and cost-effective for general use
    • Easy setup for small jobs
    • Good for non-critical cleaning tasks

Which do you need?

The right choice depends on the job. Hydro Blasting is best for heavy-duty cleaning tasks, such as removing scale, coatings, or tough industrial buildup from tanks, pipes, and equipment, especially during shutdowns or maintenance. Pressure washing is better suited for lighter cleaning, such as dirt and grime on surfaces, walkways, or machinery exteriors. At CVB Industrial Contracting, we offer both services and can help you choose the most effective and efficient option for your specific needs.
